Karachi: In Sindh, second biggest province of Pakistan, admission of female student in medical colleges have been increasing since 2005 which led the danger of shortage of male doctors which can create problem to provide medical assistance to the poor people in next few years.
According to the reports of provincial health department, admission of female students in medical colleges have been increasing since 2005.
The reports showed that female student succeeded in open merit and entry test of DOW Medical College of Karachi, Sindh Medical College, Liaquat Medical and Health Sciences of Jamshoro, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University of Larkana and Ghulam Mehar Medical College of Sukkur during the year 2005-2010.
It showed statistics of admission in medical colleges in 2005. In whole 553 male students and 926 female students took admission in different medical colleges. Out of which 232 male and 197 female in Liaquat Medical and Health Sciences of Jamshoro, 59 male and 238 females in Sindh Medical College, 90 male and 212 female in DOW Medical College, 126 males and 68 females in Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University of Larkana, 46 males and 44 females in Medical Mehar Medical College of Sukkur. Whereas 167 female student took admission in Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University For Women in Larkana.
According to the reports available to The News Tribe, around 568 male students and 1030 students took admission in the session of 2006-2007. While 539 male and 946 females in 2007-2008
The reports further show that in 2009-2010 approximately 116 male and 222 female in Liaquat Medical and Health Sciences of Jamshoro, 66 male and 246 females in Sindh Medical College, 63 male and 267 female in DOW medical college, 121 males and 125 females in Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University of Larkana, 55 females in Medical Mehar Medical College of Sukkur. Whereas more than 150 female student took admission in Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University.
