Karachi: Minister for water and power Naveed Qamar has said three agreements have been executed to import electricity from Iran under which Iran will supply 100 megawatt electricity to Gwadar.
He was talking to media men here Saturday on the occasion of International Tharcoal conference held here Saturday under Sindh Board of Investment. He told an agreement has also been reached to import 1000 megawatt electricity.
Responding to a question he said rental power plants were being made issue unnecessarily while only 200 megawatt electricity would have been generated from these plants.
The successive governments did not focus on electricity problem and they have come to forefront to criticise government on this issue, he charged.
He urged the investors to initiate power projects in the country and government will provide every protection to them.
Several projects were being launched through Thar coal which includes projects ranging between 1000 megawatt and 3000 megawatt production capacity.
To a question about suspension of membership of National Assembly Naveed Qamar said he would file assets and liabilities declaration by Monday.
