Islamabad: The International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) offered Fateh for victims of 2009 Bomb Blast incident at its Female Campus.
According to press release issued here on Thursday, Fateha was offered for the victims of bomb blasts who killed 6 female, 2 male students and a security guard on 20th October 2009. Prof. Fateh Muhammad Malik, Rector (IIUI), Dr. Sahibzada Sajid-ur-Rehman, Vice President (IIUI), Prof. Qaiserah M. Alvi, Director (Female Campus), Dr. Sadia Tahir, Student Advisor/Provost along with faculty members, officers, staff members and students were present at the event to remember the departed souls.
Prof. Fateh Muhammad Malik said that it was a terrifying disaster, which will have ever lasting marks on our memories. This was the first time that militants targeted female students and a prestigious Islamic educational institution.
He announced that the IIUI shall continue its march towards the Islamic humanism and Islamic liberalism, which was main targets of that bomb, blasts. He admired the students for showing courage and unity by enduring their contribution to their studies. He also thanked the Government of Pakistan for paying compensations to the victims of the bomb blasts.
Prof. Qaiserah M. Alvi paid tributes to the departed souls and appreciated courage of injured persons.
At the end Dr. Sahibzada Sajid ur Rehman, Vice President (IIUI) led “Fateha” for the victims and prayed for the departed souls. Students lit candles and shower flowers to remember their colleagues.
Those who laid their lives due to bomb blasts, were: Aamna Tahir, Tayyaba Hina, Amna Batool, Hina Nawaz, Aqsa Malik, Sidra Khalid, Hafiz Nafees Anjum, Hafiz Khalil ur Rehman and Pervez Masih.
