Kabul: At least two people were killed and as many injured when four suicide bombers stormed a US troops base in what appeared to be the first such attack in Panjshir province of northern Afghanistan, news agencies reported on Saturday.
According to reports, the bombers were halted outside the base but they detonated their explosives, killing two and leaving two others injured.
Nato and Afghan officials confirmed the incident and said there were no foreign casualties . Provincial police chief contradicted the reports, saying the bomber were killed before they could set off the bombs.
The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack, and said the bombers hailed from Panjshir province.
