Washington: The recent spate of US drone strikes in Pakistan’s northwestern tribal region near Afghan border appeared to be a signal sent by President Barrack Obama that the Americans would no longer tolerate safe haven for militants targeting US-led forces in Afghanistan, US media reported on Saturday.
According to reports, the decision to attack Miranshah, main town of North Waziristan, was taken at a meeting of National Security Council meeting chaired president Obama.
A drone attack on Thursday killed three alleged members of the Haqqani network, including a senior leader Jamil Haqqani and another strike on Friday left four people dead.
Four more people were killed in the drone strike when it targeted a residential compound in South Waziristan, killing at least four alleged militants and injuring nine others.
