Rawalpindi: US Special Representative for Pakistan and Afghanistan Marc Grossaman, who arrived here on a two-day visit on Thursday, held talks with top Pakistani military and civilian leadership to ease the strained Pak-US relations.
Sources said that after arriving here Ambassador Grossman held meeting with Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani. Sources said that during the meeting ranging from Pak-US relations to US policy regarding Haqqani network came under discussion.
The sources added that they also discussed the situation emerging after the assassination of former Afghan president and head of the high peace council Burhanuddin Rabbani.
Later on, Grossman along with US ambassador to Pakistan Cameron Munter met the prime minister to hold discussions on how to ease ongoing tensions between the allies in war on terror.
He also called on Foreign Ministre Hina Rabbani Khar and discussed bilateral issues and regional situation. Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir was also present during the meeting.
Gross man also had meetings with President Asif Ali Zardari and Charmian Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Khalid Shamim Wynnee.
