Karachi: Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) Chief Ahmed Chinoy has said that government is trying its best to release the abducted sailors of MV Albedo including seven Pakistani from Somali pirates.
The CPLC chief said that we were in regular contacts with Somali pirates. He said the pirates has given the deadline of one week but we were trying to expand the deadline through negotiations.
He said that pirates has been demanding ransom for $ 8 million.
The CPLC chief also held meeting with the family members of the captain of the ship here on Friday.
He also said that we don’t have have the enough money and will also contact to the consul generals of different countries to resolve the matter.
We were not in favor of ransom, but it was our duty to get them release , he stated.
The CPLC chief also cleared that the condition of ship is also not upto the mark and all the victims were facing difficulties.
