Islamabad: After the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid has also decided to part ways with the PPP-led government.
If the Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani accepts resignations of the PML-Q ministers and the MQM and PML-Q members were allotted seats on the opposition benches, he will lose majority in the National Assembly.
The total number of MNAs is 341. The government will enjoy the support of 166 MNAs which include PPP 127, ANP 13, PML-F 5 and BNP and NPP have one each seat in the National Assembly and 19 independents.
On the other hand, the opposition would enjoy the support of 175 members. They included PML-N 91, PML-Q 50, MQM 25, JUI-F 8 and PPP-S 1.
If the Prime Minister fails to enjoy the support of the majority MNAs, the National Assembly would choose new leader of the House.
