Karachi: Though Pakistan Navy has completed its probe into the terror attack on Pakistan Naval Station Mehran, delaying tactic are being used to produce the report, casting doubts over the inquiry report into the deadly attack on the county’s main naval base.
At least four terrorists stormed PNS Mehran with guns, bombs and rockets, killing several security officials and destroying two US provided PC3-Orian aircrafts in May this year.
Sources said that the report was likely to be produce on October 8 when a change in the Navy command would took place.
Defence analysts say the delay might be aimed at benefitting anyone in the navy ranks.
Naval Chief Noman Bashir who will retire on October 8, in a press conference after the attack had announced that investigation report would be produce soon. However, the report could not be produced despite the passage of more than four months.
The analysts say the probe was assigned to junior level officer, “How come a junior officer questions his senior”.
The defence experts said the probe should be expanded to high level. According to reports the PNS Mehran came under Commander Pakistan Fleet who was only issued a show cause notice which he responded.
Rare Admiral Tehseenullah was appointed as head of the inquiry board which worked under the Commander Pakistan Fleet, experts said.
Experts are of the view that the officers responsible for negligence and incompetence during the disastrous attacks should produce themselves for accountability.
