Karachi: Former Pakistan cricket captain Shahid Khan Afridi confirmed the claim of former speed-star Shoaib Akhtar, saying that he witnessed by himself on the field that little master Sachin Tehdulkar’s legs were shivering when he was facing the bowling of Shoaib Akther.
Talking to media at National Statdium, Afridi said, there was no doubt that Akther was fastest bowler of the world of his time and batsmen felt fear to face him.
Afridi was of the view that he could not say that all the things that former speed star mentioned in his book “Controversially Yours” were wrong but “I must say that Shoaib should think before alleging senior players like Wasim Bhai – former Pakistani captain and founder of swing”.
Answering Shoaib’s allegations against him, Afridi said he selected fit boys in the semifinal of World Cup 2011, adding that “Akther should remember the time when he was out of team but he as a skipper went to PCB chief, manager and other officials and requested for excusing Akhtar’s mistakes by himself just for his comeback in the national team.
Afridi said that if Akthar remembered his favour then he (Akhtar) even could not be able to see him face to face.
