Karachi: The Home Department has imposed a ban on taking out rallies in the city due tolaw and order situation.
The home department has imposed section 144 in the city and a notification has been issued in this regard, said a Sindh government official.
Sources said assembling of more than five persons and taking out rallies has been restricted apparently due to possible release of Mohajir Qaumi Movement-Haqiqi (MQM) chief Afaq Ahmed from the jail.
According to the sources a large number of MQM workers have gathered in Landhi while heavy contingent of Rangers have been deployed outside the residence of Afaq Ahmed.
Moreover, a spokesman for the Sunni Tehreek told media that rally would be taken out at any cost.
