Karachi: Mohajir Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chairman Afaq Ahmed has been detained under MPO for another month shortly after the court issued no objection certificate for his release here on Wednesday.
He was likely to be released as he had been acquitted from most of the cases and given bail in remaining.
The Sindh government has issued ordered to the Malir Jail authorities to keep the MQM chief under detention in Malir jail as his release would jeopardize peace in the city.
A large number of people who have gathered outside the jail to receive their leader were disappointed over the government’s orders. Meanwhile, the MQM activists hold a protest demonstration on the National Highway.
