Karachi: Australia dominated the first day of the second test against Sri Lanka as they first got the hosts out for 174 and then scored 60 runs without losing a wicket. Sri Lanka’s start was disastrous as they lost three wickets for 14. Then former captain Sangakara and Samaraweera took the score to 57 where the latter departed at his personal score of 17.
From there Sri Lanka kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Sangakara departed after scoring 48. Angelo Matthews was the top scorer with 58 runs.
Harris captured three wickets. Copeland, Johnson and Lyon took two each.
Watson was not out on 36 and Hughes on 23 when the play ended. With his 25th run, Watson completed his 2000 runs in test cricket.
