Karachi: Former member national assembly of Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid, Marvi Memon, launched her book entitled ‘My Parliamentary Dairies’ at an impressive ceremony here at Karachi.
Addressing the launching ceremony, Marvi said that during her three years in the National Assembly of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, she had a choice; either to enjoy the perks of power ignoring the injustice with 99% of Pakistanis and playing the politics of hypocrisy or strive to bring a change in the system. “So I decided to bring that change”, she said.
Marvi said that she had taken her first step. She traveled through the length and breadth of Pakistan to highlight the issues and injustices that enslaved the nation. She spoke about people’s struggle for rights on the floor of the House, in the streets and in front of the judiciary.
Marvi said that her people and she lived, laughed, cried, ate and struggled together and most importantly believed in each other. The former MNA said that she simply fought for people’s rights.
She said, “We have to rediscover the meaning of Pakistan and act honesty and loyally with our family and country or we can continue watching and contributing to the downward slide till the meaning of Pakistan becomes irrelevant”.
She said: “We should treat each other as the Quaid-e-Azam instructed – with no discrimination and no distinction among the communities, castes or creeds.” She urged people to trust those who had shown integrity and character. Marvi said that her book would be translated into Urdu and all local languages, including Sindhi, Balochi, Pushto and Punjabi.
Her father Nisar Memon while terming Marvi’s book a milestone quoted Makhdoom Hashmi as saying ‘Marvi did in three years what I could not do in 30 years’. Marvi dedicated the book to her daughter Fiza and all Pakistani children.
Talking to Daily Times, she alleged: “Neither targeted operation nor army intervention is the solution to Karachi issue because all coalition partners of the government had militant wings.” She said that peace could never be restored until a new government was elected through fair elections.
Awami Muslim League chief Shaikh Rasheed said political parties as well as international forces were involved in the conspiracy to destroy Karachi. He said that the ongoing operation in Karachi was a joke but not an operation.
