Islamabad: Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that entire nation was ready to cope with the all challenges, facing the country and the Pak army also prepared to fight against terrorism.
Speaking at a ceremony held in line with the independence day at Convention Center, the prime minister said, Pakistan belongs to us and we should think what we have done for it. He said that all the political parties were in support of democracy while reconciliation efforts by President Asif Ali Zardari were also underway.
Gilani said that Pakistan wanted to improve bilateral relations with its neighbours, adding that friendship of Pakistan and China was invincible and higher than Himalaya.
He added Pakistan also has close relations with Saudi Arabia and Turkey and the people of both the countries love Pakistan and Pakistanis.
The prime minister said that Pakistan and Iran enjoyed historical and geographical relations, adding that India was Pakistan’s neighbour. He said, we are determined to resolve all issues with India through dialogue.
Referring to his government’s achievement Gilani said that government employees were regularized and their salaries were also increased. Besides subsidy of Rs.2 billions was also given to utility stores so that the poor could buy items at lower costs.
The premier said that all the political parties in Fata could work independently as usurped rights of the people have been restored, adding that women have also been given due rights so that they could play their role in the development of Pakistan.
He said that Pakistan sent a satellite into the space which is a great achievement. Gilani said, we believe in supremacy of Parliament and independence of judiciary and media.
Speaking about Balochistan he said that he was ready to meet with Baloch leaders to resolve the issues, adding that we wanted a lasting solution into Karachi situation and National Assembly speaker form a committee in this regard.
He added that Pakistan would continue with its political moral and diplomatic support for its Kashmiri brothers.
