Karachi: Five more people were fell prey to target killing in Pakistan’s financial hub within last six hours, reaching the death toll to 36 since Monday, police and rescue sources said.
Several others were wounded in different shooting incidents.
In the fresh violence, two people were gunned down near Federal Urdu University Gulshan Campus. Unidentified armed men sprayed with bullet their vehicle, leaving two people dead on the spot and fled.
In another incident, five people were shot and injured on Abul Asphani Road. The injured were shifted to nearby hospital for treatment where one of the injured succumbed to his injuries.
Meanwhile two other people were gunned down in Shah Faisal Colony and Maripur areas.
It is pertinent to mention here that over 350 people were killed in July and the bloodshed is continued in August too.
MQM Chief Altaf Hussain has given 48-hour ultimatum to President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani for taking the notice of worst law and order situation in the once called city of lights.
While, Interior Minister Rehman Malik has been ordered to reach Karachi to overview the situation of the city.
