Quetta: At least 11 people were killed and three others, including a woman were injured when unidentified gunmen opened fire near a bus stop at Spini road in Quetta on Saturday.
Eye witnesses said the assailants, riding two motorbikes opened fire on people standing at the bus stop. Four people were killed and several got injured at the spot while others died in hospital.
Police and law enforcement agencies cordoned off the area and rescue teams brought the wounded to Bolan Medical Complex and Civil Hospital.
Large number of people took to the streets and set several vehicles on fire and resorted to aerial firing following the incident.
Police said that all the deceased were Shia Muslims.
Hazara Democratic Party (HDP) has called for a strikes against the killing on Sunday and announced a 40-day mourning. HDP leader Abdul Khaliq has demanded immediate action against the culprits and requested the people to show constraint.
