Islamabad: Attorney General Pakistan Maulvi Anwarul Haq told the Supreme Court of Pakistan that IG Gilgit Pakistan Hussain Asgahr was stopped by the chief secretary GB from returning to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
An SC bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry started hearing into Haj scam probe on Friday. The CJ asked the AG if the secretary enjoy powers to defy federal government and apex court orders. “Chief Secretary’s orders are wrong” The AG replied as saying.
The CJ asked the AG about prime minister’s response over the SC orders regarding establishment secretary Sohail Ahmed’s restoration. The prime minister removed the secretary after he submitted notification regarding Hussain Asghars return into the FIA to probe Haj scam.
The AG replied that the prime minister was busy on Thursday and could not respond in this regard.
