Peshawar: At least seven militants were killed and several others injured during battles with Qaumi Lashkar, pro-government militia, in north western Kurram tribal region on Thursday.
Sources said that week-long fighting between the insurgents and Lashkar killed several dozen militants in Kurram Agecny where the Pakistan Army launched an offensive earlier this month to purge the area of militants, landing troops backed by army, paramilitary forces and Pakistan Air Force.
The sources said that militants set over dozen houses of Masoozai tribe on fire in the area. They said that the Lashkar contains majority of armed men from the tribe.
Thousands of people fled the area after the military launched offensive. The army set up relief camps to accommodate the evacuees.
