LONDON: India have won the toss and chosen to field first in the first Test against England on Thursday.
England have kept the same side as in the its last match agaist Sri Lanka with only seamer Tim Bresnan being left out.
India have opted to field first in swing-friendly conditions of the pitch. They have included seamer Praveen Kumar and batsman Suresh Raina and omitted fast bowler Shanthakumaran Sreesanth and Yuvraj Singh.
This is the 2,000th Test being played and the 100th between England and India.
One of the interests of the game is that India’s Sachin Tendulkar could become the first batsman to score 100 international hundreds.
India have remained unbeaten in 10 series under Dhoni and have not lost a Test series to England since 1996.
