Karachi: Pakistan Navy has established its first drone squadron here on Wednesday.
The unmanned aircraft equipped with sensors, cameras and other sophisticated equipments would be used for surveillance and operations in the coastal areas.
According to details a handing over ceremony was held in Karachi. Cheif of Naval Staff Admiral Noman Bashir was the chief guest.
Navy spokesman while congratulating the nuclear nation over the achievement of the milestone said the drones are capable of flying above 10,000 feet and could work properly in darkness .
Defence analysts say the unmanned planes would cadre the surveillance and reconnaissance needs of Pak Navy after the destruction of US-supplied PC-3 Orian in an terror attack on Pakistan Naval Station (PNS) Mehran.
