Islamabad: Government of Pakistan has decided to remove PCO judges of LHC and SHC to whom ex-Chief Justice of Pakistan, Abdul Hameed Dorgar, had taken oath in the military rule of Gen (Retd) Pervez Musharraf.
The Karachi bench of the apex court would be informed about the decision in written.
The Ministry for Law had submitted an application before Prime Minister Pakistan Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani’s Principal Secretary on Tuesday, seeking consent to the decision for removing the PCO judges.
The Federal Secretary for Law Masud Chishti has left for Karachi yesterday to submit the report before the SC and today. He would inform the court about the decision of the government.
The decision of removal the PCO judges was taken in a high-level meeting attended by ex-minister for law Dr Babar Awan, Attorney General Justice Maulvi Anwar-ul-Haq and the Secretary for Law Masud Chishti.
The session also reflected over the situation surfaced after the reference issued by the President Asif Ali Zardari to the Supreme Judicial Council against the PCO judges and the stance of the Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry as well.
Dr Babar said that the CJP as the Chairman of the SJC has informed the government about his decision.
