Karachi: Pakistan State Oil has threatened to halt the supply of diesel to Pakistan Railways after a cheque of Rs 20 million bounced back, a private news channel reported.
At present Pakistan Railways has only two days worth of diesel supplies left.
In a letter written to Pakistan railways by the management of PSO, it was high lightened that the Pakistan Railways owed PSO Rs ONE BILLION. A cheque of Rs 20 million issued by the Pakistan Railways to the PSO bounced back. PSO officials say that diesel cannot be supplied under these conditions.
Railway officials have assured that they will try to arrange the payment for PSO.
It is worth noting that the Federal Minister for railways has already cited lack of funds, saying the amount the government had designated for Pakistan Railways had still not been received.
