Karachi: An unmanned Pakistan Navy plane crashed in Korangi area of Karachi, police said on Tuesday.
Police said that the plane crashed near Korangi Oil Refinery located near Chamra Chowrangi.
Superintendent Police Kornagi while confirming the incident said that the plane caught fire after the crash, adding that fire tenders and rescue teams have reached to the spot to bring the situation under control. According to sources the plane was being flown through remote control and belongs to Pakistan Navy. The sources said the plane is used for surveillance and photography.
Meanwhile, security officer of the oil refinery told media that no loss of live or property occurred in the wake of crash and the fire has been doused. He said that oil reservoirs remained safe in the incident.
Navy spokesman Commodore Irfan said that the plane was UAV (unmanned Aerial Vehicle) and crashed due to bird collision.He said that the plane was on routine flight when the incident took place.
