New York: Former military ruler of Pakistan General (Retd.) Pervez Musharraf has said that time for illegal marshal law has now passed away.
Addressing a public gathering of All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) in New York on Sunday, Musharraf said that he did not become with marshal law and country could not get developments in military rules.
He alleged that Pakistan Peoples’ Party, ruling party in Pakistan, and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, Pakistan’s opposition party, were playing ‘rat and cat’ game with Pakistani nation. All the decisions were taken in Pakistan’s larger interest in his tenure, he added.
He hailed the local body system and said he would restore the local bodty sytem if got rule. He said, “I had restored Police Act 2002 instead of 1864, but current government turned police system into 1864.”
Musharraf claimed that media got independent in his tenure. He also said that the anchors who used bicycle were now using Mercedes, was his credit.
He also stated that Lal Masjid incident and Akbar Bugti murder were not the main causes of the end of his rule.
