Muzaffarabad: Polling in Azad Jammu and Kashmir’s LA-17, Poonch I-Abbas pur constituency has commenced. Polling began at 8 am in the morning and will continue till 5 pm. 157 polling stations have been set up in the constituency. To ensure security 3000 police officials have been deployed.
There are 70,298 registered voters in the constituency. Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Yaseen Gulshan, Muslim Conference’s Qayyum Niazi and Pakistan People’s Party’s candidate Amjad Yousaf are contesting the election.
The election in this constituency was earlier declared null and void by Azad Kashmir Election Commission on June 26 after incidents of violence.
Political analysts have termed PML-N’s Yaseen Gulshan as the favorite candidate.
