TRIPOLI: Libyan leader Moamer Qadhafi vowed that “I will never leave my country” the “land of his ancestors”. The announcement comes amid international calls for him to leave Libya and as rebels stepped up their efforts to force him to leave.
“They are asking me to leave. That’s a laugh. I will never leave the land of my ancestors or the people who have sacrificed themselves for me,” Qadhafi said while addressing his supporters in Zawiyah.
Qadhafi accused the rebels of taking hostage the people in Misarata, Bin Ghazi and western hilly areas ans using them as human shields.
The current armed rebellion is underway since the past five months.
