Malaysia: The Borneo rainbow toad was found in Sarawak, Malaysia after 87 years. It has now been 87 years since it was last documented. Indraneil Das of Universiti Malaysia Sarawak and his team took months to search and finally find the toad. The toad was found up a tree.
This toad had last been seen in 1924 in Borneo. When the toad was not seen for 10 years it was added to Conservation International’s World’s Top 10 Most Wanted Lost Frogs list.
“They remind us that nature still holds precious secrets that we are still uncovering, which is why targeted protection and conservation is so important,” Researcher Das said in a press release.
