Karachi: Sindh Assembly on Wednesday approved Local Government Ordinance 1979, Police Act 1861, Land Revenue amendment bill and Board of Intermediate amendment bill amid uproar with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) opposing the legislation and demanding opposition seats in the house.
The session was chaired by acting speaker Shela Raza. MQM MPA’s gathered in front of Speaker’s dice and requested that seats be allotted on the opposition benches.
The acting speaker said that seats on opposition benches would be allowed after the approval of resignations of the MQM provincial ministers by the authorities concern.
Later, talking to media after the session MQM leader Faisal Sabzwari critised the government for not taking up MQM adjournment motions regarding Orangi carnage.
He said that the PPP was violating its own manifesto by imposing dictatorial laws. He added that the government played role of silent spectator during Orangi massacre.
