Karachi: Senior Sindh Minister Dr Zulfikar Ali Mirza has said that Muhajir Qaumi Movement leader Afaq Ahmed was the real leader of Urdu speaking community.
He on Wednesday while talking to media persons after a reception ceremony at Mardan House in Karachi hosted by Awami Naional Party Sindh Chapter President Shahi Syed that if Afaq Ahmed was a criminal then MQM Chief Altaf Hussain was a bigger one.
He declared Afaq Ahmed innocent, saying Afaq Ahmed has not so far been found guilty in a single case. Ahmed was the second largest personality after President Asif Ali Zardari as he has been detained in jails for last eight years on political cases, he added.
Dr Mirza was of the view that Altaf Hussain played wrong card at wrong time.
He revealed that former governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan forced him to deny his meeting with MQM-H Chairman but Mirza stated that he met Afaq Ahmed twice and would do so in the future.
He also confirmed that he has sent criminal to interior jails from Karachi.
Dr Mirza urged people of Karachi and Hyderabad to come forward against wretch. He said that none could divide Sindh Province and every evil intention to divide the province would be foiled.
He said that he would continue combating against extortionists and hooligans till death.
