Baghdad: Unidentified gunmen launched a mortar attack on a US military airbase in Kirkuk, a northern city of Iraq.
There were no immediate report of any deaths.
A US military base came under a rocket attack in Nassiriya in April.
There are currently about 50,000 US soldiers in Iraq and are due to leave the country by the end of this year, under the 2008 US-Iraq Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA).
US-led forces invaded Iraq in 2003, alleging that the country had weapons of mass destruction. Though no weapons of mass destruction were ever found, the US-led forces have remained in Iraq ever since.
