What was the most disappointing thing in the AJK election campaign? It was the fact that people of Indian Held Kashmir were hardly ever talked about. Their right to self determination was rarely mentioned. Parties talked little about their resolve (if they have any) to get Kashmir liberated from the clutches of India.
Even when they talked about Kashmiris liberation from India, they did not bother about explaining to people how they would achieve it. They thought that it is sufficient to say that they would continue the struggle for Kashmirirs’ freedom and that people do not need to know the details of their Kashmir vision (if there is any).
Can we hope to achieve the goal that we have been giving sacrifices for the last six decades with this lack of attention of our political parties to the issue most dear to us 180 million?
All parties contesting AJK elections should have given a clear message to the world: that every one in Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir wants to see the Indian Occupied Kashmir free from India and a part of Pakistan and that we would not hesitate to give any sacrifice for the cause. But, alas, nothing of the sort was seen.
