Islamabad: All the allegations levelled against Brigadier Ali Khan are baseless and he has been avenged for his stance which he took during an army conference, raising bitter questions about the army’s role in US navy SEALs operatopn in Abbottabad on May 2 that led to killing of Osama bin Laden, says Col retired Inam Rahim counsel for the detained army officer.
While talking to a British news agency Inam says his client has been serving in the military for 32 years and no such allegations were levelled against him during his service.
He said that brig Khan had raised tough questions during conference held on May 5, asking security agencies should accept their failure if Osama bin Laden had been living in Abbottabad.
The lawyer said the brig had suggested during the conference that high ranking army officials should open their assets before the people so that confidence in the army could be restored.
He said brig Ali Khan was detained for his outspokenness and his detention was made public after the army and the government agreed on forming a probe commission into May 2 raid.
Col Inam says the detained officer has deep routes in the military as his father, son and a brother were also serving in the army.” Such a man even could not think of having links with any extremist organization.
He added that he would approached the Lahore High Court soon. Col Inam said the detained officer was allowed to talk with his family twice.” Khan is very sad and even does not know where he has been detained” the lawyer said.
