Islamabad: Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik has said that the Rangers played key role in eliminating targeted killing in Karachi and a single incident should not be used to malign the whole force.
Talking to media out side the parliament house on Saturday Malik called upon the Rangers’ personnel that there was no need to be demoralized due to deed of some individuals.” I request media not to malign and unnecessarily criticized the secret agencies as they thwarted more than 1100 terror plots” he said, adding that the Rangers and police officials should also be appreciated who sacrificed their lives inline with their duty.
Replying a query about incidents of targeted killings in Karachi the minister said drug land mafias were involved in the killing.” Political parties were also struggling in affected areas such as Katti Pahari”  he added.
Malik said that as many as 48 police officers were killed by criminal elements in Karachi during last five months.
Replying to another query about Zulfiqar Mirza he said that the former home minister was a brave man and he had a lot of respect for him.
The interior minister said that the CIA would not be allowed to carry out illegal activities in Pakistan.
To a question regarding stealing of thousands of passports he said that all those passports had been cancelled as the passports could be exploited in foreign countries.
