Islamabad: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan said on Friday that an independent commission had been constituted to probe the gruesome murder of senior journalist, Saleem Shehzad.
Addressing the protest demonstration of journalists outside the Parliament House, she said that freedom of press was integral part of democracy. She said that the government would prove security and protection to journalists.
Journalists staged protest demonstration in front of parliament house on Friday on the call of Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) against the gruesome murder of senior journalist Saleem Shehzad, who was kidnapped from Islamabad last Sunday and his body was recovered on Tuesday from Mandi Bahauddin. Addressing the demonstration, leader of journalist community urged the government to constitute judicial commission to probe the murder of Saleem Shehzad.
