Peshawar: At least 30 people were killed and over 56 injured in a powerful bomb blast near District Police Officer’s office in Hangu district of Kyhber-Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday.
Officials said that a bomb planted near the DPO office went off with a bang that shattered the surrounding areas. They said DCO office and district courts were also located near the area, where the blast took place. Soon after the blast, rescue officials and law enforcement agencies’ personnel rushed to the spot. The bodies and injured are being shifted to DHQ Hospital.
Residents said that the blast was so powerful and intense that it shook the areas far from the spot.
Local police rushed to the spot, cordoned off the area and started search operation. Police officials said that some 450 kgs explosive material was used in the blast.
Meanwhile, Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik condemned the blast and sought report from DPO Hangu.
