Reykjavik: Flight ban has been imposed in Iceland after the eruption of an active volcano Grimsvotn, news agencies reported on Sunday.
Clouds of smoke are being witnessed 20km into the sky from the volcano.
Icelandic Meteorological predicts the eruption would not cause widespread disruption to air traffic.
Ash clouds from another Icelandic volcano led to the closure of a large section of European airspace last year.
Governments feared that ash particles could cause aircraft engines to fail, and the closure caused chaos to air travellers.
