Washington: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has categorically rejected to withdraw from its current position on the pre-1967 war borders Israeli-Palestinian peace talks, which United States President Barack Obama stated Thursday. Obama said he still believes “it is possible to shape a deal.”
Both the leader called on at White House on Thursday. Obama said Palestine also would have to explain the details of the agreement between Hamas and Al Fatah groups.
Afterward, Obama said they had “prolonged and extremely useful talks,” but also conceded that the US and Israeli governments have some differences. Still, he said he believed that it is possible to form a peace deal that will give Israel security.
Netanyahu, though, said Israel cannot safely go back to those border lines and said it cannot negotiate with Hamas, which he called the Palestinian version of al Qaida.
