Islamabad: Pakistan Air Force (PAF) has made up a special high level investigation committee to probe intervention in Pakistan airspace by the US helicopters on May 02, when US forces conducted Abbottabad’s operation in which Al Qaeda Leader Osama Bin Laden was killed.
The committee will probe on the military operation and killing of Bin Laden by the US forces. It is the first committee which is formed to investigate the controversial incident challenging the sovereignty of Pakistan, BBC reported.
The team would also see that how Pakistani forces remained ignorant about the presence of foreign choppers in Pakistan’s territory.
Special committee, under the leadership of an officer of group captain level has started its working by checking the record of radar thoroughly and taking interviews with the officials who were on duty at the very night.
The sources said that the more such committees would be formed in the days to come in defence organizations and secret agencies to unveil the facts of the Abbottabad operation, which are becoming the reasons of embarrassment for the country internationally.
The initial investigations revealed that the PAF radars installed at Peshawar and Rislapur were functioning and a movement of some half dozen planes was traced out near Jalalabad boundary at 11:00 pm in the night.
One of these airplanes was identified as US Radar laden AWACS and remaining five were recognized as F-8 Jet Fights of US. These planes flew near Pakistani border for quite lone time but they did not cross into the airspace bounderss of Pakistan.
The committee would look into the matter that if radar system tracked down these flights outside Pakistan’s limit but could not detect the US helicopters which entered into Pakistan and remained for hours there.
The officers of PAF would also examine the aspect whether the planes that were traced by the radars were made flights to divert the attention of Pakistani forces.
