Tehran: Iran has announced to shut the offices of the “US-sponsored” Ahl-e-Bait TV, a satellite television channel seeking to “sow division between Shiite and Sunni Muslims,” the Iranian ‘Press TV’ reported Thursday.
Iran’s Special Court for Clerics ordered the closure of the offices of Ahl-e-Bait TV and the halt of its activities in the Iranian cities of Qom and Isfahan.
The court also ordered to arrest some officials of the channel in the two cities, said the report without working on the time frame of the shut-down.
Ahl-e-Bait TV, which has offices in the Iranian cities of Qom, Mashhad and Isfahan, is currently run by an Afghan cleric, Hassan Allahyari, in the United States, where its headquarters is based, according to the TV.
