Sibbi: At least 15 people were killed and several others were wounded in a terrorist attack near Sibbi area of Balochistan province of Pakistan on late Monday night.
Local sources and eye witness said that three unidentified armed assailants entered into the bus, threw patrol over the passengers put fire and fled. As a result, 12 people including four children were burnt alive, while several others received burn injuries.
However, local police said that the incident took place on National Highway at a patrol pump near Sibbi area of the procince when fire broke out in an inter-city bus carrying passengers including women and children. The reason of the fire was yet to be confirmed, said police.
The injured were being rushed to Civil Hospital Sibbi for treatment. The coach was moving towards Quetta from Peshawar.
The sources said several people were trapped inside the coach who were trying to evacuate while the driver and cleaner of the coach managed to escape after the incident.
Heavy contingent of police have cordoned off the area and started investigation of the incident, while no arrest has been made so far.
District Police Officer Sibbi Syed Farid Shah has denied the aspects of terrorism and said that the fire broke out due to technical problems and two or three children who were inside the bus at the time of the incident were burnt alive and remaining others were outside the passenger bus.
At the other hand Deputy Commission Sibbi Naseer Ahmed Nasir, quoting eye witnesses said that two miscreant riding a bike threw patrol on the bus and put fire. He said majority of the passengers were outside the bus and only women and children were inside at the time of the incident. He said 15 people including children and women were received burn injuries.
He declared the incident a big tragedy and said investigation has been started to trace the cause of the incident.
Law enforcement agencies and rescue teams had started their operations. According to the corespondent of The News Tribe among the deceased, seven people belonged to the same family. The deceased were hailed from Khuzdar, Ghotki and Sukkur.
