Tehran: Iran is building a fence on its border with Pakistan to keep out terrorists, Defence Minister Ahmad Vahidi has said.
The barrier is being built on “impenetrable mountainous terrain” in southeastern Iran to “prevent villains from crossing into the Islamic Republic”, IRNA news agency quoted him as saying Thursday.
Members of the Iranian insurgent group Jundullah, which is allegedly  based in Pakistan’s Balochistan province, have reportedly been crossing into Iran’s Sistan-Baluchestan province to carry out terrorist attacks.
Jundullah leader Abdolmalek Rigi was arrested by Iranian authorities in February 2010 and executed in June.
