Islamabad: Pakistan Electronic Media Regulation Authority (PEMRA) on Friday forward show cause notice to AAG TV channel, an entertainment and music channel of Geo Group, for violating PEMRA rules and regulation.
According to PEMRA, show cause notice has been sent to AAG TV because of airing Indian Premier League (IPL) matches. Aaj TV has only rights to show entertainment and music programmes but it was also showing IPL matches which is an open violation of its license, PEMRA wrote in the notice.
On the other hand, administration of Geo Group has claimed that Pakistan government is taking Vengeance from Geo group. The administration said after Geo Super now PEMRA wanted to close AAG TV.
Geo administration have claimed that cable operators are being asked verbally to close AAG channel while the operator are demanding PEMRA that give proper letter for closing the channel.
