Islamabad: An important Indian parliamentarian said on Thursday that not a single anti-Pakistan slogan was heard during the semifinal between India and Pakistan, which was a good signal for both the countries.
Talking to a private Pakistani TV channel on Thursday evening, Rajiv Shukla said that the environment of the meeting was very pleasing, which would help ease tensions between the two sides. “Does not matter it was structured or unstructured diplomacy but it will leave positive effects,” he said.
Pakistan’s former foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that Wednesday’s meeting between Pakistan’s Yousuf Raza Gilani and India’s Manmohan Singh was a good step, but the relationship could not be improved between the two countries unless political will from both side was showed.
He said several initiatives have been taken since Mumbai attacks, but Manmohan Singh could not take any step owing to India’s domestic political situation.
Qureshi stated that he had told his Indian counterpart Parnab Mukherjee that political will, relaxation in visa policies and confidence building measures were crucial to improve the relationship between both the countries.
