Prior to the discussion I will like to first define a system. There are mainly four components of a system;
- Prevailing attitude of people.
- Institutions
- Administration
- Government
In our particular society, whenever such discussion is undertaken, we usually move in the descending order. Neglecting the fact that people are the basic and most important component of a society. People carry their attitudes into institution. So basically the progress of an institution is dependent upon the people inside it. The basic problem with the attitude of our people is that we never accept our mistakes. Rather, we are in a habit of passing our bucks to other: society or the administration. So the attitude of our people is reflected by our institution, as they are made up or run by the same people.
And the institutions pass on the blame to administration. In plain words, people attitudes are reflected by institutions. People don’t take care of the institutes or institution, as they consider these property of the government, while in fact these are their own property.
Institution are the second most important part of a system. Most of the institutions are represented by a single person or a group of persons, whether there should be a systematic organization.
Administration is the body governing and regulating the institution and the society. In Pakistan, the administration is generally taken as bureaucracy.
These people in collaboration with the institutions and administration elect their representatives, who govern them. Government is the supreme power of decision making in our society.
What is wrong with our system? No doubt the rampant corruption, bribery, white collar crimes, misuse of authority or power, insurgency and a lot more. And who is responsible, whether the system itself or the people controlling and living inside this system? I think the people.
If we really want to change our system, we must first of all quit our habit of blaming our society. We must first think well about our own deeds, what we are giving to our surroundings. Are we fair with our occupations? Are we discharging our responsibilities with honesty and dedication ? As I have discussed earlier people and their attitude is the basic part of a system. The people are taking their attitude into institutions, administration and government. So, instead of crying and blaming our prevailing system, as it will bring no change, why not we start changing ourselves which ultimately lead to change of the system. Though it will be difficult at the outset, but it would have positive and lasting impact on future. Countries develop when they plan and take steps for the betterment of their future generations.
We must think and decide before it is too late. We must thing and analyze that what and in which condition we inherited the incumbent system from our ancestors, and what improvement we have brought in it? We must ponder over the question whether we are leaving behind us the system in worst condition than what we had inherited? We must strive to leave behind a system and society better than that we inherited from our ancestors.
