“What’s the matter with kids today?”
“Kids today aren’t as intelligent as they were when I was young.”
“Students today don’t focus on book reading the way students did 20 years ago.”
“Internet addiction is common, and because of that, kids are losing their social skills.”
“All these kids want to do is play their video games.”
“When I ask students for the capital city of India, they say they don’t know, they’ll just Google it. They just don’t seem to be able to learn the way students used to. And what’s Googling got to do with learning anyway?”
“These kids just can’t concentrate the way that kids used to. They just won’t sit and listen.”
“All those kids want to do today is look at videos on YouTube, photos on Flickr, chat on Facebook, and play games. They have lost the ability to focus on the real skills that will help them in the future.”
These are just a few comments I have heard when I use to interact with people from a generation just before the present digital one today.
There seems to be serious concerns the way habits of digital generation are changing. They appear to listen to no one when it comes to any kind of advice. Something is different with this generation. And I suggest parents, teachers and all people who interact with the digital generation to understand this different. Understanding exactly what is different about kids today and what is causing the changes we see in their behavior.
I will wait for your opinion.
