Jos: Five members of a family were shot dead by unidentified armed group in Jos, central Nigeria on late Sunday night, a family member said.
Gloria Ezekiel Dagut said that gunmen attacked her home on the outskirts of Jos Sunday night, a foreign news agency reported Monday.
Dagut says they killed her husband’s mother, his three adult brothers and his adult sister.
She said she lay on the floor of her bedroom beside her husband and their son.
She says more than 10 attackers dressed in black shot the door many times but did not get through.
It is pertinent to mention here that Jos is the epicenter of religious violence in Nigeria’s “middle belt,” where dozens of ethnic groups fight for control of fertile lands.
