Pakistan and Kenya are the only two teams to have three players from their 1999 World Cup squads.
Shahid Afridi, Shoaib Akhtar and Abdul Razzaq were all in England eleven years ago under the leadership of Wasim Akram. While Afridi failed to give any impressive performance, the two others had played important roles in pushing Pakistan up to the final of the competition.
But on the other hand, eight Pakistan players have never played a world cup. Four of them played the 2003 World Cup in South Africa and five represented the country in 2007 World Cup in the West Indies.
Sachin Tendulkar is the only one playing 2011 World Cup who appeared in the 1992 competition. He is the only player in the current Indian team who played 1996 and 1999 World Cups.
Bangladesh has no one from the team that played in 1999 in England when they defeated Pakistan in a group match.
Sri Lanka has only Murali from the 1996 winning squad. Two current players from that team, Vaas and Jayasuriya, have been ignored by selectors for this World Cup.
