Islamabad:Federal cabinet resigned in a meeting held here on Wednesday.Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani presided over the meeting in which all the federal ministers including ministers of state and advisers quitted.
Speaking on the occasion the prime minister hailed performance of the cabinet and said that 77 percent decisions of the cabinet were implemented while 177 decisions were being implemented, adding that 75 meetings of the federal cabinet meetings were held.
Addressing the last session of the cabinet Prime Minister Gilani said a new cabinet would be appointed within the next 24 hours.
He further said that the government was moving towards implementing the constitution.
He added that the foreign exchange of the country had reached to 17 billion dollars.
The last meeting of the cabinet was underway till the filing of this report.
The Central Executive Committee (CEC) of the ruling Pakistan peoples Party(PPP) on Friday had given authority to the PM to either cut the cabinet to size or reshuffle it.
The political rival of the PPP the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz(PML-N) has given 10-point agenda to the government. The agenda also demanded of the PM to reduce the cabinet size. however, it took 31 days to met one of the major demand of the PML-N
