Jammu: A militant was killed in a fierce gunbattle between alleged top LeT militants and Indian security forces in disputed Kashmir on Tuesday. The shootout between insurgents and the forces take places near the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in Ramban district where three ultras are still holed up.
Acting on a tip off, police and Army troops launched a cordon and search operation close to the highway at Manjote-Nachlana belt, 150 kms from here, Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Ramban-Doda-Kishtwar range, Maneesh Sinha said. A gunbattle broke out between the militants and the security forces, the DIG said. An Army officer of 16 Corps said that one militant has been killed in the encounter which is going on. Three militants are holed up in the area, the DIG said. As per the reports, top Lashkar-e-Toiba commander Kari Zubair is also holed up in the gunfight.
